Ray Cates is a writer and teacher in Ocala Florida. He has lived in Ocala since 1957. He grew up in Elizabethton Tennessee. He served in the U.S. Navy and Air Force..
In 1961 he was part of the invasion force at the Bay of Pigs in Cuba.
He graduated from the University of Florida and Blackstone School of Law. He continued his graduate studies at Stetson University and Liberty University.
At the University of Florida he taught as a graduate student. He also taught at Webster College and City College.
He now owns Oceans High School http://oceanshighschool.com and is the owner of Ray The Trader Bookstores in Marion and Alachua Counties in Florida.
